Federation, who were on a state-wide strike from yesterday,
demanding a hike in operating fares of goods carriers, called
it off after authorities concerned agreed to increase the fare
by 16 per cent. The Federation held talks with Merchant Coordination
Committee and other unions here, where it was agreed that the
fare would be increased by 16 per cent, K K Hamza, President,
Kerala State Lorry Owners Welfare Federation said. The increased hike would come into effect from tomorrow,
he said, adding that in view of the agreement, lorries would
resume operations from tomorrow. Demanding that the operating fare of goods carriers in
Kerala be hiked by 30 per cent, following the hike in diesel
price, the Kerala State Lorry Owners Welfare Federation had
stopped operating their services in the state from yesterday. The federation had been in talks with all merchant
