Patna: It was unusual sight to find a huge crowd converging before the Bihar' State secretariat complex recently. All of them were desperate to have a glimpse of an image, which emerged on a tree and drew everyone's attention.
The news that it was Lord Ganesha's image attracted dozens to the high-security zone.
As news of a 'divine occurrence' spread from hearsay, bureaucrats also joined in with the rush of religious-minded lowly paid employees. All were eager to catch a closer look of the eucalyptus tree inside the State secretariat.
"We have seen the image of Lord Ganesha on the tree. We are offering prayers and feel it should continue. The tree is within the campus of the State Government office complex. I am very happy after watching it," said Ram Singh, one of the onlookers.
Many believers say the image of Lord Ganesha is auspicious for the State.
"It's our great fortune to have found this image here. It's is an auspicious sign. The divine occurrence suggests as if there is something good which is about to happen here," said Ramakant Kumar, another onlooker.
In August, thousands of people flocked to several temples in various parts of the country after hearing about some Hindu deities-Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Kali-drinking milk.
A similar mania gripped the country in 1995, when thousands of Hindus started offering milk in spoons to marble idols of Lord Ganesha.
