MADURAI: The Madurai High Court Bench has revoked the death sentence awarded to Anbarasu, the main accused in the sensational triple murder case at Nagarcoil, in which Malik Mohammed, former Vice-Chancellor of Calicut University and two others were killed on Nov 12, 2007.Despite the case falling under the rarest of rare dictum, the court was reluctant to impose death sentence on the accused due to the nature of evidence. However, the court has held that both the accused shall not be released from the prison for the rest of their lives.A bench comprising Justice M Jaichandren and Justice S Nagamuthu noted that with the nature of the circumstantial evidences, the bench was of the considered view that it will not be proper to impose extreme penalty of death sentence on the accused.
