Beijing: Anju Bobby George on Tuesday failed to qualify for the finals of

women's long jump event of the Beijing Olympics after three consecutive foul jumps.

It was a big disappoint not only for Indian fans but for Anju herself as she failed to put up even single clean jump, squandering all three chances.

It required good show to make the finals grade as the qualifying mark was 6.75 metres or the 12 best jumps.

Anju was not in her best form when she landed in Beijing and has continuously struggled to cross her best mark of 6.83m, which she achieved in the last Olympics at Athens.

Now the Indian medal hopes from the track and field remains on the 4X400 relay team comprising Mandeep Kaur, Chitra Soman, S Geetha, Sini Jose, MR Povamma and K Mridula.

Yogeshwar Dutt loses

Another Olympic medal slipped out of India's hands when Yogeshwar Dutt squandered lead in the third and final round to lose the wrestling quarter-final tie of the 60kg free style category against Kenichi Yumoto of Japan on Tuesday.

Dutt made a good start to his bout winning the first round 1-0 but his opponent bounced back to win the second, earning four points to draw parity.

The Indian wrestler again seized the initiative early in the decisive third round, going ahead 1-0 but failed to hold on to the lead in the last 10 seconds and gave away two match winning points to his opponent to lose 2-1.

A win in this round would have assured at least a bronze for India as losing semi-finalist gets a medal in the competition.

Earlier in the day, Dutt had beaten Kazakhstan's Baurzhan Orazgaliyeb 3-1.
