Liz Hurley has reportedly gone ‘ballistic’ after an astonishing and unexpected flare-up from her in-laws.

London: The honeymoon glow in Liz Hurley’s face has transformed into a frown.

The actress has reportedly gone ‘ballistic’ after an astonishing and unexpected flare-up from her in-laws.

Liz Hurley is said to be furious after her father-in-law, Vinod Nayar criticised her of “blatant and cynical commercialism,” and puclicly disowned the newly wed couple this weekend.

"Liz was furious and went absolutely ballistic when she found out what Arun’s family had been saying about her. She feels that what was the happiest day of her life has been tarnished and doesn’t understand how after everything she has done for them -raising their social standing in India through the roof, for example - they could do this,” the Daily Mail quoted a source, as saying.

Vinod and his wife Joanne said that Liz treated them like ‘social outcasts’ at the wedding ceremony.

He said that barred Vinod from the wedding platform during the Hindu fire ceremony in which the head of the family is supposed to officially welcome the bride into the family.

He also added that Liz insulted him by not wearing a £35,000 ruby and diamond necklace, which he and his wife had given her to wear at the wedding.

After the conduct shown by Liz and Arun, the older Nayars cancelled the £30,000 post- wedding party, which they had arranged for the newlyweds.

"I think this elaborate Indian event was Elizabeth’s theatrical dream. It was certainly not a serious attempt to honour our customs. In the end it was just nonsense. The magazine wanted a great show, so they could justify the big fee they were charged. I think it was blatant and cynical commercialism,” Vinod said.

"I once thought Liz was a lovely, unspoiled woman, but now I see that she is a very hard person. It was important for her to get celebrity faces there. That’s what the Hello! deal was about. She was fulfilling her contractual obligation,” he further added.

Meanwhile Liz, who has declared that she wants no more ties with Vinod and his wife, has offered to pay back £30,000 to the family as a reimbursement for the cancelled post-wedding party and any other expenses they incurred.

"Now, Liz has even offered to reimburse the Nayars if they feel they’re out of pocket and hopes that this will be the end of the matter. Yet as far as she is concerned, that is it - she never wants to see Arun’s father or step-mother again,” the source said.

The source added that Liz made all the efforts to fit in the Nayar clan, and therefore is not able to understand Vinod’s accusations and grievances.

"She doesn’t think that they have taken into consideration how much planning went into the wedding celebrations - she was under a lot of pressure and was very, very stressed, and perhaps they misinterpreted this for rudeness,” the source added.

Meanwhile Vinod has written a letter to his son, informing him that he wished to "cut all ties.”
