Several parts of the national capital witnessed strong winds and dust storms on Friday night, killing two people and injuring many others. On Saturday, Delhi saw a pleasant weather followed by light rains in some areas.
Heavy rainfall along with hailstorms and gusty winds are likely to prevail in Mumbai and Pune over the next 25 hours, the weather office said. On the other hand, a yellow alert has also been issued for Bengaluru, with prediction of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The India Meteorological Department on Friday also predicted heavy rain to lash West Bengal and Odisha till May 12 and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds over Madhya Pradesh till May 13.
Storm and Gusty Winds Witnessed In Delhi
- The national capital on Saturday woke up to a pleasant weather after it witnessed overnight dust storms and rain.
- At least two people were killed and 23 injured in storm-related incidents as strong winds uprooted trees, electricity poles and led to portions of walls collapsing across Delhi.
- Power was also disrupted in many areas as the dust storm swept the national capital late Friday night. Nine flights were also diverted at the Delhi airport due to bad weather.
Mumbai To Receive Rains
- The city of Mumbai are likely to witness partly cloudy skies in the afternoon or evening, with a slight relief from heatwave conditions.
- The IMD has forecasted rains to hit Mumbai on Sunday and Monday, thereby bringing relief from the long warm days.
Yellow Alert In Bengaluru
- The weather agency has sounded a yellow alert for the city and heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur.
- The weather department has issued the alert for the next week, thereby predicting week- long rains.
