New Delhi: The national capital city got a terror scare as it geared up to ring in the New Year when two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists were arrested outside the New Delhi Railway Station on Sunday afternoon and recovered some explosive devices from them.
According to police sources, a police team arrested Samiullah and Ali Mohammed from the Paharganj side of the New Delhi railway station in the afternoon hours. A bomb disposal squad rushed to the sport and inspected the luggage recovered from the duo.
News agency PTI quoted Karnal Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), as saying that some explosive devices were seized from one of the baggage of the duo and the nature of the explosives was being examined.
Police sources said two IEDs were recovered from them. A bomb disposal squad was examining the IEDs when reports last came in.
The two were arrested barely a kilometer away from Connaught Circus, the central point of New Year celebrations on Sunday evening.
