Malayalam actress Lekshmi Rai wants to play the role of the Delhi braveheart, the 23-year-old woman who was brutally tortured and raped by six men on a moving bus.She succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Singapore after battling infection for over 10 days.
Filmmaker G S Venu is in talks with Lekshmi for the lead role in the movie that is based on this gruesome incident. The filmmaker said the role will help her educate people about dangers women face in the society.
The debutant director's film will chronicle the life of the woman from her childhood - how she comes out of a community practicing child marriage to blossoming into an independent woman. The movie will be shot in four different languages.
"The movie will be a strong protest against such activities and will call for stringent laws preventing crime against women," he said.
