BHUBANESWAR: Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Vilasrao Deshmukh, during his visit to the City, has addressed the students at KISS and expressed satisfaction over KIIT’s preparedness to hold the 99th Indian Science Congress from January 3-7. Deshmukh set the ball rolling with a programme called ‘Igniting Sciential Atmosphere Before the 99th Indian Science Congress.’ KIIT has planned essay and quiz competitions on the subject related to science and society and it will be held in two categories. Children from Class VIII to XII will be placed in the junior category whereas students from Plus 3 to PG level are in senior category. Each and every school, college and university has been informed and the final competition on the basis of the result of State-level competition will be held in KIIT. The top three winners in senior category will take home a prize money of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4 lakh and Rs 3 lakh respectively, while Rs 4 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh is for junior category. Apart from the prize money, the best three winners in each category would be provided higher education in any branch of study in KIIT for free. The State toppers will also be given cash prizes and each finalist will get a merit certificate.
