Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhara Rao returned here from Delhi on Wednesday after nearly a month-long sojourn in the national capital.
When Rao had left for Delhi early last month, there were hopes of the TRS chief convincing the Congress high command to make a statement in favour of creation of a separate state for the Telangana region.
Activists even hoped that the Telangana March on September 30 would act as a catalyst for declaration of Telangana state by the Congress bosses.
Though Rao had held a series of meetings with the party leaders in Delhi a few days before the Telangana March, it was made clear that Telangana would remain a will o’ the wisp.
Before driving to the airport in Delhi, Rao claimed that the talks he had with Congress leaders were fruitful and favourable and said there would be final round of consultations with him in the near future.
But Rao did not sound all that convincing while saying that a solution was in sight. When mediapersons cornered him for an answer, he just said that he was in Delhi at the invitation of Congress leaders and that he had spoken to more number of Congress leaders than the media had found out.
“I have met a number of leaders. Talks are still on,” he merely said.
