New Delhi: The Karnataka High Court has given a new lease of life to the night life in Bangalore.
The court on Wednesday lifted a ban on women serving liquor at bars and pubs.
The High Court while announcing its verdict also referred to a similar judgment by the Supreme Court last year, which permitted women to be employed as bar tenders provided their security was ensured.
Since then the live band association has been trying to change the Karnataka Excise Act in an effort to legalise dance bars.
Thousands were left jobless after live bands were banned in the state.
Though, the High Court had earlier asked government to reconsider the ban, it refused citing law and order problem.
The state government may now move the Supreme Court over the judgement. The ruling BJP has been opposing night life culture in the state capital.
