THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed at the Palayam Martyrs’ Square on Tuesday under the aegis of the NCC Group Thiruvananthapuram, in remembrance of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil Operations in 1999.The function was organised by 2 Kerala Battalion NCC, Thirumala, of which Capt Jerry Premraj who died fighting in the Kargil War was a cadet during his student days.Uthradom Tirunal Marthanda Varma was the chief guest. Cadets from Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NCC Thiruvananthapuram Group participated in the function wherein they took an oath re-affirming their commitment to uphold the integrity and sovereignty of the nation. Wreaths were laid at the Martyrs’ Square by Marthanda Varma, Colonel Rana, Commander, NCC Group Thiruvananthapuram, and Wing Commander Darshan, Officer-in-Charge, 2 Kerala NCC Battalion.
