PUDUCHERRY: V Soundariya, a girl student from Karaikal, has topped the merit list for biology-based courses as published by CENTAC today. She secured 199 marks. Felix Mareec Angelo with 199 marks came second while A V Joe Vimal with 198.666 marks came third. Soundariya secured the first rank by virtue of getting 200 in biology, while Felix with 198 marks in biology was declared second, according to CENTAC convenor Dr P Jayakumar.In all, the list contains 3,148 students who applied for biology-based courses which include MBBS, BDS, B VSc, nursing, other paramedical courses and courses in agriculture. Counselling for the same is expected to start next week.The merit list for engineering courses would be announced later after the applications are received from students as per the revised norms of AICTE. Only after processing the applications would the merit list be put up. The CENTAC counselling for lateral entry into B Tech courses for 546 seats began today. Offer letters were given to 204 students after counselling, which read as - 84 students (computer science), 63 (electrical and electronics engineering), 37 (IT) and 20 (civil engineering).
