KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has directed NCP leader Mani C Kappan to publish a notice in the official gazette before filing an application seeking permission to withdraw a petition challenging the election of Kerala Congress (M) leader and Finance Minister K M Mani.Justice S S Satheesachandran passed the order while considering Kappan’s withdrawal petition. Kappan, in his petition, had said he would not be able to appear before the court to give evidence against the minister since he had undergone a bypass surgery and was undergoing constant medical checkups.However, the court held that legal procedures under Section 109 and 110 of Representation of the People Act had to be followed in a withdrawal petition. The court directed him to publish a notice in the official gazette after getting the approval of the court.The court adjourned the hearing of the election petition to December 19.
