New Delhi: A thief struck twice during the high-profile Bridal Asia Show in New Delhi, which was attended by jewellers and diamond merchants from across the country, at the Ashok Hotel in the city, said newspaper reports.
Senior police officials said that a jeweller from Mumbai filed a complaint that a pair of earrings, allegedly worth lakhs of rupees, was stolen from his stall on Sunday at the hotel.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Anand Mohan said investigations are on into the incident.
He said no other case of theft has come to their notice so far. "We have received only one complaint," he was quoted as saying.
Police are in the process of questioning hotel staff and private security force personnel who were on duty at the time of the incident.
They are also checking the CCTV footage to look into the case, another senior police officer said.
