Kuala Lumpur: Ferrari's Formula One team principal Jean Todt was on Thursday given an honorary title by a Malaysian state ruler in conjunction with his birthday.
Todt, who is seeing Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, was given the title of ''Datuk'' - the equivalent of ''Sir'' in Britain, by Terengganu's state sultan, the official Bernama news agency reported.
Todt and Yeoh are reportedly building a holiday home in the eastern Malaysian state famed for its beaches and diving.
It is not immediately clear if Todt flew in to receive his title, as Ferrari are currently preparing for the next leg of the Formula One season in Germany.
Another 378 people were also conferred awards by the Terengganu leader, local media reported on Thursday.
