Port Blair: The Andaman Police have registered a case against unknown people for shooting and uploading the videos of the protected Jarawa tribe. 'The Observer' showed a video of women from the protected Jarawa tribe being made to dance for tourists after cops were paid off.
Talking on the issue, Andaman Chief Secretary Shakti Sinha said, "I do not agree that there are violations on the Action Taken Report (ATR). The Jarawa tribes do come out on roads and nearby villages. An FIR has been lodged against persons, investigations to find out who took the video."
In separate incidents 15 persons have also been arrested for intruding into Jarawa areas.
The island administration is expected to submit its report to the Home Ministry on Thursday explaining what happened and who was responsible. This after the ministry intervened on Wednesday.
The Andaman Police claimed that the video was shot in 2001 - when laws for protecting the Jarawas were less stringent.
