Lucknow: Two days after Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi labelled All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) a terrorist organisation, its ousted member Maulana Salman Nadwi said on Wednesday that “it’s time to dissolve the board”.
Hinting at the ‘dictatorial attitude’ of the board members, Nadwi said, “I want peace to prevail in the society but the board is certainly not in this favour. I was not even given any show cause notice before being ousted. Neither any answer was sought from me.”
Meanwhile, a video of Nadwi reciting the Holy Quran has also gone viral, in which he can be seen crying and saying that those meting out injustice to him will be punished by God.
“God will take care of those who are doing injustice to me. Whatever I am doing is for Allah, the Almighty. I am talking about Islam but they are defaming me. Allah is watching and with God’s grace, I will get justice,” Nadwi said in the video.
While it is being said that his sobs are a reaction of being ousted out of the board, the actual date and time of the video could not be verified.
Shia board chief had also slammed AIMPLB for expelling Nadwi.
“Those so-called Muslims, who have the mindset of hardliners, are a threat to this country. Significant decisions regarding Muslims in India are being taken by terrorist organisations in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Muslim Personal Law Board is a branch of such terrorist organisations,” Rizvi said in a statement.
Meanwhile, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that Nadwi was acting at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who wanted to create a rift in AIMPLB.
The board’s ousted member had recently courted controversy after he met Sri Sri Ravi Shankar over the Ayodhya dispute and said at the boar’'s meeting that shifting of the mosque is possible according to the Sharia. Nadwi was expelled on the recommendation of a disciplinary committee.
