The much talked about Gurinder Chadha Ealing comedy, It’s a Wonderful Afterlife opened to a successful weekend at the box-office in the UK.
The film which opened with paid previews on April 21, 2010 has grossed GBP 464,468 in its opening weekend. This feat has catapulted the film on to the No.7 position in the UK Top 10 charts.
What’s even more exciting is that the film had delivered a better screen average compared to any other title to hit cinemas last week, apart from the Steve Carell biggie Date Night.
The typical Gurinder Chadha comedy, starring veteran actress Shabana Azmi in a lead role along with Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy and Brit-Asian talent Goldy Notay has managed to do exceptionally well in the Asian pockets of UK, making it only the second Indian film to do be received well in the UK this year.
It’s a Wonderful Afterlife releases in India in English and a Hindi dubbed version (Hai Marjawaan!) on May 7, 2010.
