KOCHI: Putting an end to the row over compensation claims, Italy on Tuesday handed over Rs 1 crore each to the kin of the victims in the Enrica Lexie firing episode. Based on the development, the Kerala High Court approved the settlement made between the legal heirs of two fishermen and the Republic of Italy regarding the compensation package. Demand drafts of Rs 1 crore each were given to the victims’ kin. The Consul-General of Italy in India Giampaolo Cuttillo handed over the demand drafts to Doramma, wife of Valentine and Jannet Mary, a relative of Ajeesh Pink, at the Adalat bench. A demand draft of Rs 33,33,334 taken in favour of Doramma and two drafts of Rs 33,33,333 each taken in favour of their children Derrick and Jeen along with two drafts of Rs 50,00,000 each, taken in favour of Ajeesh Pink’s sisters Abhinaya and Aguna were handed over.The agreement in this regard was made before the Kerala Lok Adalat in the morning.
