BANGALORE: A CBI special Court has convicted an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer K Chandrika and pronounced a simple imprisonment for three years and a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh and additional 6 months imprisonment in case of default of payment of fine.
The CBI's AntiCorruption Branch had filed a chargesheet after completion of the investigation against Chandrika, the then Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, Bangalore, under the Prevention of Corruption Act.According to the chargesheet, Chandrika had demanded a bribe of `10 lakh from one Rajeev Sawhney, Managing Director of V Moksha Technologies, for reducing the tax liability of his firm two years ago.

She was caught redhanded while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 2 lakh from Sawhney on January 2, 2009 in the presence of an independent witness.
