New Delhi: The Home Secretaries of India and Pakistan will be meeting on Tuesday for the second consecutive day in New Delhi. Indian Home Secretary GK Pillai and his Pakistani counterpart, Chaudhary Qamar Zaman, are likely to issue a joint statement on Tuesday afternoon.

The statement is expected to outline bilateral measures to be adopted for fighting terrorism and enhancing Confidence Building Measures. The announcement may also come up with steps to enhance people-to-people contacts, including an easier and faster visa regime.

On Monday the Indian and Pakistani delegation discussed several issues including counter terror co-operation, visa and humanitarian issues as well as how to control drug trafficking. At the end of talks on Monday, both sides termed the talks as 'extremely positive'.

"The talks were positive and things are moving in the right direction. We will update the media on Tuesday," said Pillai.

Zaman, who is leading a 12-member delegation, also said talks were "very positive". "Since, we have another day for the talks to still follow through, I am not going into the specifics at the moment".

"But I can tell you with good amount of certainty that its been a very positive attitude displayed on both sides and I am really confident about tomorrow's proceedings also," he said.

The Home Secretaries are meeting for the first time since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008. These talks will be followed by discussions between the Commerce and Water Secretaries of both the nations. The Ministry of External Affairs and the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan will review the progress of the talks in July 2011.

The talks come just before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani are to meet in Mohali where the two leaders will witness Wednesday's India-Pakistan World Cup cricket semi-final clash.
