Momos are delicate wraps, with fillings of meat or vegetables, that are mostly steamed. Many food joints also pan-fry it or deep fry it as per the demands of the customers. Momos are one of the most delicious dishes that is relished by people across the country. Momos are quite a common street food in different parts of India. If one sets up a stall, it would be quite profitable. Knowing this, a mother-son duo from Assam decided to run a small momo stall, that is hygienic and home-made. Amid rising unemployment in the country, Kavita Sharma of Haleswar, Tezpur and her son Manas Pratim Sharma have been running a momo stall. The duo prepare and sell mouth-watering momos to their customers which are made by them at home. The Sharma family faced many financial difficulties during the lockdown, which led to the opening of a momo stall, along with her son.
The small stall is situated in Haleswar and attracts customers by offering momos at very pocket-friendly prices. Every evening, customers make a beeline to eat the piping hot soft and flavourful dish of momos. The duo manage to earn about Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 daily. What began as a hardship has now resulted in making them popular and very much in demand among the people in that particular area.
As they have gained much recognition, people in the vicinity have begun to refer to Kavita Sharma as Momo Sister. Their everyday hard work of rolling out maida, mincing the meat or vegetables, preparing the chutney and steaming the momos has finally resulted in what looks like a successful business venture. Their determination to overcome obstacles serves as a great example.
