CHENNAI: Evaluators who commonly face the wrath of students whining over strict correction seem to have got a breather this year, with most students happy that their answer sheets were marked much better than expected. Most administrators of city schools too expressed satisfaction about the evaluation standards and said their students were unlikely to apply for retotalling for any subject.
Fairoze Naghath, State second rank among Matriculation students, studying in Vellammal Matriculation, Mogappair, said she had expected only 470 marks but was pleasantly surprised to realise she had scored a good 22 marks higher than that. Kuzhalarasi E, State topper among Matriculation schools in Tamil, said she had not expected to score 99 in a subject where evaluation is highly subjective. "I knew it was a tough subject to score high in, so I did not ignore language in my daily study plan. Yet, the State rank came as a thorough surprise and the marks were higher than I had hoped for,"said the student of St Ursula's Church Park.

R Aishwarya, a student of Gil Adarsh Matriculation, who emerged State second among Matriculation board students, said she had expected to be the school topper but being a State rank holder was unexpected and overwhelming.

Dr N Vijayan, principal and correspondent of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Selaiyur, whose students had, on an earlier occasion, found evaluation to be a sore point, said all school's students were happy with the standard of evaluation adopted this academic year.
