New Delhi: Just over a week after Google's announcement of the Galaxy S4 Google Edition, rumours have started surfacing claiming that HTC is also planning to come up with a stock Android variant of its flagship phone, HTC One, for release in the US.
According to Geek.com, the company plans to cater those who prefer their Android to have a little more Google in the software department, and thus the work on a HTC One running Android 4.2.2 (without its Sense software customisations) is afoot.
However, it is not yet clear if a stock Android HTC One would be sold in Google's Play Store, or how exactly it would be made available to consumers. If rumours are to be believed, the HTC One with stock Android is going to be make available in the US first, just like the Galaxy S4 Google Edition.
"Sources claim this vanilla HTC One will be announced within the next two weeks, with potential release slated for sometime this summer," reports Geek.com.
Holly from Geek.com previously leaked correct information on the Galaxy S4 Google Edition ahead of Google's announcement at the I/O conference last week.
last week, Google annoucned the Galaxy S4 Google edition, which runs a pure version of Android, the version that Google makes and distributes, not the one modified by Samsung to include a host of features that have been dismissed as confusing gimmicks in reviews. The Galaxy S4 Google edition will be unlocked, meaning it will work with any carrier, including those in other countries. But it also means the price won't be subsidized by the carrier.
Google will sell a Galaxy S4 with 16 gigabytes of internal memory for $649 in the US, beginning June 26.
