In a miraculous escape, a three-year-old boy was rescued from a 600-feet deep borewell pit in a village near Hosur on Sunday.
Guna (3) — son of Anandan (25) and Padma (25) — slipped into the newly-sunk borewell at his father’s farm in Kummalathur village of Agalakottai panchayat, at
11 am. Anandan, an agriculturist, had dug the borewell on Saturday. After seeing no sign of water even at a depth of 600 feet, he had abandoned the pit.
The farmer and his wife were carrying out their routine Sunday work on the farm, when Guna slipped and fell into the pit.
Denkanikotta Tahsildar Chithra said the boy was stuck at a depth of 30 feet. Though the rescuers had dug a parallel 50-feet deep pit, Guna was helped out with rope from the borewell pit, after a four-hour-long struggle.
The traumatised child was then admitted to the Hosur General Hospital with minor injuries.
