PUDUCHERRY: The Immaculate Heart of Mary Government-Aided Boys and Girls High School, Nellithope, witnessed some tense moments on Monday after it received a bomb threat, which later turned out to be a hoax. Father Arokiadoss, principal of the school, said a girl student found a piece of paper that had been allegedly thrown through a small opening of a gate at 10.50 am, the period used by the students for their morning break. She handed it over to her class teacher who upon examination found scribbled on it that bombs had been placed in six places in the school and that they would explode around 12 pm.The teacher immediately informed the assistant head master (AHM). He and the staff then rushed the entire 1000 strong students to an adjacent church. After the evacuation, the school authorities informed the police.An India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) team, Orleanpet police personnel, bomb disposal squad rushed to the school along with sniffer dogs. They made a thorough search of all the three floors of the school, but could not find any explosives.Meanwhile, Legislators Om Sakthi Sekhar (AIADMK) and G Nehru (AINRC) rushed to the school and made inquiries.By this time, anxious parents, after knowing about the incident through the media, rushed to school. They were confronted by the police who managed to pacify and send them away.However, the school authorities decided to declare a holiday for the rest of the day and allowed the students to leave with their parents.
