New Delhi: Socialite and hotel heiress Paris Hilton - who went from a red-carpeted Hollywood soiree to a Spartan Los Angeles prison cell on June 4 - has been released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for unspecified health reasons on June 7.
She had been sent her home wearing an electronic ankle bracelet to track her movements while she remained confined to her Hollywood Hills house for 40 days.
But a judge ordered the hotel heiress to appear in court on June 8 for a hearing that was requested by prosecutors, attempt to send her back to jail.
Twenty-six year old Hilton had surrendered herself early to serve a 45-day jail sentence. However, she served only three days of her sentence.
A judge sentenced Hilton to 45 days for violating the terms of her probation, after being arrested for driving with a suspended license, but she could be released after 23 for good behavior, court officials said.
Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo filed a motion in court with the judge in Hilton's case, Michael Sauer, seeking a court order to return her to jail to serve the remainder of her original sentence.
Delgadillo also sought a court order for the sheriff's department ''to show cause why it should not be held in contempt for violating'' the sentencing order, which expressly barred electronic monitoring.
