New Delhi: After playing Shanaya Singhania, a rich brat in Karan Johar's 'Student of The Year', who would hanker after popular brands and be dressed up to the nines, the critics thought she would be comfortable playing roles that would establish her as Bollywood's style diva. But with her nod to Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway' which releases today, she has proved her detractors wrong. While the actress has shocked everyone by sporting a no-make up look in her second film and feeling gorgeous and fearless about it, we aren't sure if the critics would say the same for her acting skills.
But the fact that Imtiaz Ali's film created enough buzz across Europe as it made a London stopover following its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival last week, one can expect the film to do well at the box office. The film, which travels across six states of India revolves around the formidable obstacles and challenges Alia has to combat as she leaves her well-heeled family to escape from an overpowering life only to be kidnapped by gangsters.
The film's soulful and captivating music which has been composed by Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman, has also helped it grab everyone's attention.
