CHENNAI: In the wake of sealing of illegal multi-storied commercial buildings by authorities in T Nagar on Monday, the Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangankalain Peramaippu has appealed to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to intervene and stop the process immediately.In a statement, forum president A M Vikiramaraja appealed that the actions could adversely affect the livelihoods of thousands of traders and people linked to the trade in the area.He also appealed to the CM to direct the authorities to open the seals from the buildings to continue their trade.Meanwhile, questions have been raised on the CMDA and the Corporation for choosing Monday for their action.A case related to the demolition of illegal structures in T Nagar would be coming up for hearing at the Madras High Court on Tuesday. Three weeks ago, the HC had censured the authorities for not carrying out the demolition of such structures.
