KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday directed the Kozhikode police to go ahead with the deportation notice issued against Israeli writer Susan Nathan.Justice P S Gopinathan issued the directive while considering a petition filed by British-born Israeli writer Susan Nathan seeking a permission to challenge a criminal case registered against her. She submitted that the Nadakkavu police had registered a case under Section 14(a)(b) of the Foreigners Act against her. The petitioner pointed out that the case pending in the lower court gives an opportunity to defend herself and disprove the false charges. The petition also pointed out that the police were not arresting Susan in the case involving non-bailable offences. A Division Bench of the High Court had earlier upheld the quit notice issued by the state police. The court clarified that pending of this petition would not be an obstacle for the authorities to execute the deportation notice.
