CHENNAI: Strongly condemning DMK leader M Karunanidhi for asking Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to give up the Vigilance portfolio, since she faced a case of disproportionate assets, Finance Minister O Panneerselvam on Sunday said the portfolio was held by the Law minister and not the CM.In a strongly worded statement here, Panneerselvam said ever since the AIADMK assumed power on May 16, the portfolio of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption was vested with the Law Minister.Frustrated by the poll debacle, Karunanidhi has blabbered something even without knowing the truth, the senior AIADMK leader charged.On the DMK leader’s view that Jayalalithaa should emulate Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Panneerselvam said it was like the devil quoting scriptures. “Karunanidhi did not even prefer an appeal in the Kirutinan murder case in which his son Alagiri was an accused.” Jayalalithaa had been courageously fighting all the false cases foisted on her, he said.
