THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amidst opposition from the school teachers' unions owing allegiance to the Left parties, the State Government has decided to reintroduce the Onam examinations that was annulled by the previous LDF Government.
The decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) held on Monday. As per the decision, Onam examinations will be held from August 22 to 29. However, the Onam examinations for schools following Muslim calendar will be from September 14 to 20. The SCERT has been entrusted with thetask of conducting the examinations.The decision to scrap the examinations was taken by the previous LDF Government in line with the unified NCERT syllabus proposed by the Union Ministry of Human Resources under Kapil Sibal. Schools following allIndia syllabus such as CBSE also follow this pattern and conducts only a midterm examination annually.
