Bihar government on Thursday decided to have high standard bus terminal similar to Inter State Bus Terminal in Delhi and Chennai.  The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Urban development department under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The modern bus stand that would be laced with all modern facilities would be constructed on 26 acres of land  at an estimated  cost of Rs 200 crore, Secretary Urban Development Department S Siddarth said in a release in Patna.

The proposed bus stand would have the capacity for entry and departure of 3000 buses every day, he said.  Separate arrangments would be made for parking of buses, autorickshaw and taxis on the lines of existing facilities at Airport in metropolitan cities, Siddarth said.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha, Development Commissioner Alok Kumar Sinha, Secretary Road Construction Department Pratya Amrit and his counterpart in Environment and Forest department Deepak Kumar Singh. It also took a decision to formulate a plan for city bus services in 11 municipal towns including in Patna.

Siddarth said the meeting also decided to formulate a river front development plan approved by Ganga river basin authority.  The Rs 245 crore plan proposes to beautify all the ghats in 6.5 km strech from Collectriate ghat to Nauzar on river ganga equipping them with 20 feet wide pathway, he added.
