HYDERABAD: Aarakshan, the controversial Hindi movie, has been cleared for screening in the cinema halls of the state from Sunday. The orders to this effect were issued by the state government based on the recommendations of a committee constituted to preview the movie following objections raised by some SC, ST and BC organisations to screening of the film based on reservations.Andhra Pradesh is the third state after Uttar Pradesh and Punjab to impose ban on the exhibition of the movie after several SC, ST and BC communities raised objections to certain dialogues and scenes in the movie. They expressed apprehensions that these dialogues and scenes might hurt the sentiments of SC, ST and BC communities. The state government constituted a committee headed by the principal secretary for social welfare to preview the movie within a week and submit a report. The committee along with the representatives of the SC,ST and BC associations viewed the movie on Friday and submitted a report to the government on Saturday recommending clearing the film for screening.The committee commended the theme of the film Aarakshan and recommended release of the revised version. It is learnt the producers of the film have agreed to duly incorporate minor modifications suggested by the committee.
