Titabor: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday filed his nomination papers from the Titabor constituency for upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Gogoi, who already represents Titabor in the outgoing Assembly, submitted four sets of nomination papers, including two sets in Assamese and another two in English, before Titabor subdivisional officer Jayant Narlekar in Jorhat district.
After filing his nomination papers, the Chief Minister left for an election meeting at Dekajan along the Assam-Nagaland border.
On not being projected as the party's chief ministerial candidate, Gogoi said he was happy about it.
"I don't bother about such things, but what I want is the party to come to power".
Gogoi said he along with Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhubaneswar Kalita would lead the team and the party would emerge victorious in the state.
Referring to the criteria for the selection of party candidates, Gogoi said, potential and mass appeal of the candidates were the sole criteria.
