It’s that time again, my favorite time of the year! Valentine’s day is around the corner, and so is the time for us to be cheesy. Gifts need to be thought of, bought, gift wrapped, perfumed and sent in huge pink boxes. But we’re in the digital age, and my beat is audio video, not candy floss, thus this article is for those who want to gift a song to their better halves, or better still, to their "to be better halves". There is no need to know A, B, B# of music, after all what is software for?
There is a nice site which makes personalized songs and we have elaborated the process, with a walk through to get the best result. Thus the geeks in us can still be tweaked even on Valentine's day, plus there is the added advantage of the hugs and kisses and the unmentionables.
The site’s name is www.instasong.com. This is a nice website that produces personalized songs for almost every occasion. They have backing tracks ready, and what they do is just add the personalized stuff you fill out, into their song. There is a 4 step process for this.
So first you must click the Valentine day link on the home page, see the red circle, this is specially designed for this year’s upcoming day. Or you can also just go to the Love song category. You will be taken to the first of 4 steps they have, for the song creation. The first step is quite straight up, in fact all of them are like that. Here, you have to choose between funny, romantic, sweet etc. Click the type you want and click ‘go’. We chose sweet...
Then the next step is where things start to get dizzyingly lovable. Here comes the name of your loved one. It actually has a drop down list of many female names. But there is a small catch - the list only features American names. But never fear, you can of course use ‘Darling’, as that is a universal way of doing things. The ‘darling’ option is there as a saving grace for us Indians, plus with the other personalized stuff you can add later, your significant other will definitely know how much you care... about personalization.
Next we have a form to fill out which gives you options to add different lyrics, and here is where most of the personalization happens. There are about 5 drop down listed form fields, where they have all these choices of lovely sounding sentences like “You are getting cuter by the day” (wait, do not cringe yet, leave that for after hearing the song they make).
There is a choice to mention their eye color, and for this there are choices ranging from amber to light green. There is a comments section, and these change according to the main option you chose in step 1, so in the Funny song option, you can add comments like “I wish you were Jessica Alba”. No kidding.
Finally the song plays in a flash file. The full song costs $4.95 which is reasonable enough, or you can try this link to get a free promotion code they are offering.
They mail it to you, and you need to then enter in the form at the beginning to access your free song. If not, they have a 1.5 min preview which is also good enough.
You can record the preview and rip it off as an MP3 and mail her the track. The track, I must say, is perfect for the occasion, and is SO cheesy that Avinash would hang himself, no questions asked. Happy Valentine's Day.
