HYDERABAD: GHMC commissioner M T Krishna Babu has instructed officials to ensure removal of the debris dumped in Kukatpally nala immediately to avoid inundation during monsoon.The commissioner, along with chief engineer and zonal commissioner (North) on Tuesday inspected certain nalas that created problems during the monsoon a couple of years ago. While inspecting the Kukatpally nala, he noticed that a lot of silt dumped by the Water Board while laying a pipeline there and also an advertisement hoarding and its base structure dumped in the nala. As it posed a threat of inundation, he ordered its removal.While inspecting the picket nala at Minister's Road, where HMDA is developing a park, he noticed that the flow of nala got disturbed and instructed a co-ordination visit with the HMDA officials to straighten the nala path without any bottlenecks. He also inspected nalas at Nagamaiah Kunta, Padma Colony, Nallakunta bridge at Fever Hospital and ordered to take-up fencing, parapet walls and arranging of caution boards wherever necessary. He informed that GHMC is purchasing 1,500 manholes covers within 15 days and ordered the purchase 300 manholes through centralised procurement by zonal commissioner, central zone to meet the immediate needs. He also ordered officers to keep water motors ready to remove stagnated water and to flag open manholes. He further ordered that executive engineers should be available round-the-clock with wireless sets to attend to emergencies during the rainy season.
