KOCHI: French delegates are all set to visit the city to consider investment opportunities here.Pierre Fournier, Consul General of France in Pondicherry, promised a three-day Kerala visit by the French delegation. Also, the Consul General met Mayor Tony Chammany the other day to discuss the potential areas of investment in the city. Deputy Mayor B Bhadra was also present on the occasion.“The Consul General did not mention the exact date of the visit. However, he said that the delegates will study the possibilities of investing in various sectors like energy, transportation, waste management and water treatment,” Bhadra said.At present, one third of the French investment in India is concentrated in Chennai. Recently, the French consulate decided to open a French-Indian Chamber of Commerce in Chennai. In India, Chennai has shown the highest growth of French companies. The General Consulate also plans to meet political partners in Kerala and Tamil Nadu to expand the economical partnership with India. “Apart from Chennai, they are planning to extend their investment plans to states like Kerala,” Bhadra added.
