PUDUCHERRY: A total of four cases of swine flu have been reported from JIPMER. These include three women and a 10-month-old baby girl from Tamil Nadu. According to sources, two women aged 21 and 29 from Villupuram and a 32-year-old woman from another TN district, tested positive for H1N1 on April 9 and April 7. While the 21-year-old had been referred from the Pondicherry Institute of Medical sciences (PIMS), the 29-year-old was an OPD (Out Patient Department) case at JIPMER.The 32-year-old woman was admitted to the medicine ward of JIPMER, but was subsequently taken to the Apollo Hospital for treatment, sources said. The 10-month-old baby from Vriddhachalam, also an OPD case, was detected with the virus on March 17 at JIPMER.At present, no swine flu cases are admitted in JIPMER for treatment.From the government hospitals in Puducherry, four throat swabs were sent to JIPMER for testing two days ago, but all tested negative, Dr VV Rao, Deputy Director (Public Health) and nodal officer for Swine Flu, told ‘Express’ on Wednesday.
