TIRUCHY: For the DMK partymen here, their leader M Karunanidhi, who turned 88 on Friday, is their ‘livelihood’.Posters hailing him as ‘Engal Vaazhvaadhaaramey’ (Our livelihood) were found in several parts of the town on Thursday. The posters evoked the interest of the cadre as well as the public who read a totally different meaning in ‘Our Livelihood’.However, the posters vanished suddenly, with different ones pasted over them. The Press photographers who were alerted, roamed throughout the city, in search of the posters that gave an ambiguous title to the DMK leader. But they were not able to find them anywhere, since all the earlier posters had been covered with new ones, that gave him other titles. Another title, ‘Ethaiyum Thaangum Idhayamey,’ that hailed him as a leader who is undaunted by sufferings and sorrows also evoked some comments from the onlookers, who linked it to the present circumstances. Other titles for the DMK patriarch included ‘Sutri Chuzhalum Sooriyaney’ and ‘Oyvariyaa Sooriyaney’ which compared him to the Sun, the party symbol. Some other titles depicted him as a Tamil scholar and compared him to Thiruvalluvar, the most respected poet in Tamil literature.
