Follow SC directive on jallikattu

MADURAI:  District Collector U Sagayam on Thursday held a review meeting to elaborate on the guidelines to ensure smooth conduct of jallikattu. Stressing on the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, he said that the sport should be conducted in compliance with the SC directives. Sufficient number of medical and rescue teams should be deputed at the venue, Sagayam said and added all bulls taking part in the sport should be registered.  Animal welfare rules should be strictly adhered to and officials must ensure that no bull is fed alcohol. There should be ample water and all other pre-requisites should be fulfilled, Sagayam said.
