SAMBALPUR: With the politics over flood in the district refusing to subside, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra on Monday demanded a white paper on the donations by industries and individuals. Addressing people after taking out a huge rally in the town, Mishra questioned as to why the same standard on relief and compensation was not maintained for people of western Orissa compared to the Coastal areas. The town saw two huge rallies being taken out on Monday by the BJP and the BJD, as a show of strength. While the BJP accused the State Government of causing flood and laid siege to the office of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (ND), the BJD nailed the BJP-led Sambalpur Municipality for the flood and besieged the municipal office. The BJP rally, led by Jayanarayan Mishra passed through the entire town before converging at the office of the RDC. Mishra took a dig at the district administration for failing to install powerful water pumps to drain out the flood water quickly. Moreover, ` 1,500 compensation offered was too little and meaningless and demanded ` 20,000 for each damaged house.  Later, the district BJP unit submitted a memorandum, addressed to the Governor, to the RDC (ND) demanding action against the people responsible for Hirakud dam fiasco resulting in flood, hike in compensation  for completely damaged houses, proper survey of inundated houses and death of livestock besides payment of adequate compensation against it, survey of crop and payment of compensation and waiver of agricultural loans. The district BJD led by its president Rohit Pujari blamed the Sambalpur Municipality for the flood. The civic body failed to get the drains dredged before the monsoon, resulting in flood.
