Five Naxals, Including Woman, Surrender in Vizag
A woman Naxal and four other members of the banned CPI (Maoists) on Saturday surrendered before Vizag rural police.

Visakhapatnam: A woman Naxal and four other members of the banned CPI (Maoists) on Saturday surrendered before Vizag rural police.

The Naxals cited a range of reasons from ill-health to harsh treatment from their leadership which prompted their decision to surrender.

"Gemmili Chandramma alias Akhila (33), native of Peda Agraharam in Vizag agency, was involved in five major offences including attack on Kalimela Police Station in Odisha in 2001. She turned herself before police," Superintendent of Vizag Rural Police Rahul Dev Sharma told reporters.

Chandramma had joined the outfit in 1998 as a Dalam Member of Korukona Dalam and rose to the rank of Area Committee Member (ACM) of Kalimela (Odisha) Dalam.

Others who surrendered were Commander of Armed Militia Lasingi Matchayya (27) alias Matsya Raju, native of Balapam area of Chintpalle mandal, Korra Subba Rao (27) and his uncle Korra Lakshmana Rao (55), both were native of Injari area of Pedabayalu mandal and Takkiri Hedbeen (33), native of Dabuguda area in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

Of the five surrendered Maoists, Hedbeen is active in outfit and he surrendered due to harassment from rebels.
