BHUBANESWAR: Five more dengue deaths rocked the State on Sunday as the toll jumped to 12. All the five deaths occurred in private hospitals of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and in all the cases, the patients belonged to Angul.Three deaths were reported from Kalinga Hospital, Ayush Hospital and Hi-Tech Medical College of Bhubaneswar and two from Sun Hospital and Shanti Hospital of Cuttack.The deceased were identified as Dushasan Sahu (43), Trilochan Pradhan (45), Babuli Biswal (42), Nalini Sahu (38) and Digambar Sahu (67). They all belonged to different parts of Angul.As the deaths came as a shock, more positive cases were reported on Sunday. As many as 12 new dengue positive cases were detected out of 60 blood samples tested at SCB Medical, Cuttack and MKCG Medical, Berhampur.Of the 50 samples tested in SCB Medical, 12 were found positive. Of these, three cases each were reported from Angul and Kendrapara, one each from Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore and Cuttack.As on Sunday, 173 samples have been found denguepositive out of 449 samples which were tested. Of the 173 positive cases, 124 have been reported from Angul, 10 from Jajpur, seven from Cuttack , six from Dhenkanal, five from Sundargarh, four from Kendrapara and three each from Ganjam and Jharsuguda.The rest of the cases were reported from Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur and Balasore.
