New Delhi: Film producer Gaurang Doshi was arrested on Thursday morning in connection with an alleged assault on his former companion.
The Bombay High Court rejected Doshi’s anticipatory bail plea in connection with alleged assault on Flora Saini.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (D N Nagar) Arun Awate was quoted by news agency PTI as saying that Doshi was arrested by the Versova police which is investigating into the case of assault registered by Saini last month.
Doshi had approached a local court soon after the registration of the offence against him, which in turn asked him to approach the High Court, granting temporary relief from arrest.
The High Court rejected the plea last week on the ground that it was a case of "brutal assault".
In the intervening period, Saini had also filed a case of threatening and sending obscene SMSes against Doshi with the Oshiwara police station.
In the fresh case, Doshi, who is accused having assaulted Saini on February 14, was arrested and later released on bail.
