Massive celebrations erupted at the offices of BJP and Aam Aadmi Party as they scored big in the Delhi Assembly polls while Sheila Dikshit's residence and the Congress headquarters wore a deserted look.

Party workers had started celebrating at the BJP's Ashoka Road central office since morning as soon as the initial trends showed started showing leads for them.

Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also joined in the merriment and played the drums himself for a while.

Some of the supporters were carrying posters of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi suggesting that the credit for the victory goes to him.The scenes were similar at the party's state office at Pandit Pant Marg.

Wild celebrations were also witnessed since morning at Aam Aadmi Party's office at Hanuman Road at new Delhi, the loudest cheers were heard when it was learnt by the party workers that AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal was ahead of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from the New Delhi seat.

The AAP activists were raising slogans, singing anti-corruption songs while waving their election symbol broom in the air. People also distributed sweets and smeared gulal.

The decibel levels soared sky high at around 3:20 PM when Kumar Vishvas declared that Arvind Kejriwal has defeated Dikshit by 25,864 votes.

The atmosphere was upbeat at BJP's chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan's Krishna Nagar residence. Although Vardhan maintained a low profile, the party workers busted crackers and indulged in sloganeering.

Several persons also reached Vardhan's residence to congratulate him. In a sharp contrast, the mood in the Congress camp was gloomy, there was nobody to be seen at the party's state office at ITO.

Some NSUI workers conducted a 'havan' outside Sheila Dikshit's 3, Moti Lal Nehru Marg residence at New Delhi in the morning but after that things went on to silent mode.

Putting up a brave face, Dikshit herself came out to speak to reporters at around 1 PM, but she did not speak much and even retorted "Bewakoof hain na (we are idiots, right?)", when asked if her party failed to read the mood of the city which it had ruled for 15 years.

The trend was almost similar outside counting stations where BJP flags fluttered and Aam Aadmi Party's 'jhadoos' rolled in celebrations while Congress supporters were spotted in less numbers.

While the BJP supporters celebrated with drums and garlands, AAP supporters chose to celebrate silently.

"We are Aam Aadmi Party which is the party of a common man. We will celebrate the common way, without any crackers or dhols," said Antariksh Pathak, an AAP supporter from Aadarsh Nagar constituency.

Similar views were expressed by Manish Jha, another AAP supporter from Rithala, "We will not celebrate in a grand way. Once the results are out, we will go back to the party office and introspect what could have been done better."

The BJP supporters on the other hand, flocked outside the counting centres laden with garlands and dancing on 'dhol' beats.

"We are waiting for the results and are ready to welcome our winning candidate with garlands and sweets," said Deepak Singh, a BJP supporter from Kirari. Most Congress supporters gave counting stations a miss and only a few of them were spotted with the party flags.

"I am happy that our candidate from Badli, Devender Yadav has won. However, AAP's victory in certain constituencies has come as a surprise to us," said Vandana Singh, a Congress supporter.

Devender Yadav, the winning candidate from Badli had similar views to share. "I am happy for my victory but I am disappointed with the party's overall results. It is a mixed feeling for me and now that BJP is on a winning streak, there is no question of Congress forming an alliance too," said Yadav.

BJP's winning candidate from Rithala, Kulwant Rana who won by a margin of 25,904 votes was fully confident of BJP's further victory.

"People have acknowledged our work and that's why they have voted us to power. If required, we will try to form an alliance too," said Rana.
