The state government issued a notification on Tuesday, fixing fees for the professional courses of MBA and MCA for year 2012-13 basing on the recommendations submitted by the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC).
A uniform fee of Rs 27,000 per annum has been fixed for colleges which gave an undertaking on a uniform fee. In all, 710 colleges offering the MBA course and 387 offering MCA agreed to the uniform fee.
A fee of Rs 42,300 per annum has been fixed for institutions that filed details in time as per the High Court orders. Nine MCA colleges and 13 MBA colleges had filed the details in time. However, the fee is subject to revision by AFRC on basis of the material submitted by the respective colleges.
There are 48 colleges offering MBA, whose proposals are evaluated and their fees vary from Rs 46,300 to Rs 71,200. Similarly, the proposals of 49 colleges offering MCA are evaluated and their fees vary from Rs 43,300 to Rs 88,000.
A uniform fee of Rs 27,000 is applicable to the institutions that submitted details with delay based on the Supreme Court order, the institutions that submitted details with delay based on the High Court orders, the institutions which submitted insufficient data based on either Supreme Court order or High Court orders. There are seven such institutions offering MBA and six offering MCA. The uniform fee is also applicable to those colleges offering MBA and MCA, which had not submitted any details.
Apart from the tuition fees, there are special fees that have been fixed under various heads which are applicable to all institutions offering MBA and MCA. A one-time fee of Rs 2,000 had to be paid at the time of admission towards admission/registration/recognition fee. Out of it, Rs 500 will be remitted by the institutions to the university concerned. Further, Rs 1,000 per annum will be paid towards special services, college functions, health centre services, reading room, college magazine, hobby centres, student handbook, laboratory, library, computer and internet, placement cell and games & sports, and Rs 1,500 per annum towards common services _ university examinations, academic audit, curriculum revision and content development, staff training, coordinating meeting, university publications and website maintenance. There will also be a refundable deposit of Rs 1,000 for library and laboratory services.
The government’s order made it clear that the enhanced fee as recommended by the AFRC for year 2012-13 in respect of institutions, whose proposals have been evaluated basing on the details/figures furnished by them to AFRC, is subject to further physical verification by task forces constituted on August 11, 2012 with regard to implementation of revised pay scales and any other relevant details furnished. If it is found that the data provided is incorrect, the fee shall be revised by making necessary deductions of the fee determined to be excess for the block period of 2013-2016 and the same will be informed to university concerned.
