Ahead of the Independence day celebrations, a two-day photo exhibition on the martyrs of freedom movement was organised at the Secretariat library here on Monday.
Inaugurated by principal secretary Ajay Mishra, the exhibition is a portrayal of various freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of nation. The posters displayed are a collection of Ravish Chandra Gupta of Delhi, lent to Swathantra Amara Veera Smarak Samithi, a Hyderbad-based voluntary organization working for creating awareness among the people about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
It focuses on the unsung heroes of the freedom movement unravelling that it was not just Gandhi and Nehru, who contributed to the Independence of the Nation. Paintings exhibition also renders sacrifices of Indians and brutality of British East India Company during the 1857 war of Independence.
There are pictures and informations about expatriates and their contribution to the freedom struggle, sacrifices of teenage student leaders like Pratap Singh Bharat, Md Barkatulla, Jiban Ghosh, Naranderanath Dasgupta, Narayana Dabhade, Vasudev Hari Chepakar including the posters of tragedies during Kuka revolt, Santhal Revolt, Munda Revolt. “Our objective is to tell the people about the contribution of people. The first exhibition of these posters was at Art Gallery in Ravindra Bharathi, followed by one at Jain Bhavan in Secunderabad. We intend to organize more exhibitions in schools based on freedom movement,” Swathara Amara Veer Samark Samithi vice-president Pushparaj Joshi said.
