Easter celebrated with religious fervour

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thousands of faithful congregated for Holy prayers as the state on Sunday celebrated Easter to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ after crucifixion. Prayers and penance marked the end of the Holy Week with thousands attending special prayers in the churches in the wee hours of Sunday.   Senior bishops and priests led the Easter Mass in the churches and delivered Easter message.  In capital Thiruvananthapuram, midnight Mass was held in which devotees participated in large numbers. Archbishop M Soosai Pakiam led the Mass at St Joseph’s Cathedral.  Cardinal George Alencherry led the prayers at the St Mary’s Basilica in Kochi.  Sumptuous traditional feasts were arranged in most Christian homes. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and leaders of various political parties also greeted the Keralites on the occasion.
